A 40% transfer headline is attractive, but the threshold is measured in resulting Etihad Guest miles. It is not measured in the original bank or hotel points you send.
The three tiers

Transfers must be from participating partners between 1 October, 00:00 UTC+4 and 31 October 2026, 23:59 UTC+4. The closing time is 1 November, 03:59 in Malaysia. Listed partners include ALL Accor and Shangri-La Circle. A bank name alone does not establish that every country’s card programme participates; confirm your precise partner account and conversion route.
A clear conversion example
Suppose your partner’s calculator says the points you plan to transfer will produce 20,000 Etihad Guest miles before bonuses. Your example bonus is 4,000, making 24,000 miles. If you instead hold 50,000 partner points that convert to only 20,000 miles, you remain in the 20% tier. The larger original points balance does not unlock 40%.
What to check before transferring
Use the correct Etihad Guest number. Partner conversion ratios and minimum transfers apply. Transfers cannot be reversed, and the offer cannot be combined with another offer. Bonus miles can take 30 business days after the campaign closes to arrive. The published terms do not explain whether multiple small transfers are aggregated; do not assume they reach a higher tier together.
Our decision rule
Look for a redemption you would actually use, then compare its points requirement and cash charges with the cash fare. A transfer bonus does not guarantee an award seat. For a couple, search for two seats on the same flight before planning around the headline bonus.
If you need a ticket immediately, do not include unposted bonus miles in the balance available today. Retain the partner transfer confirmation and this campaign’s terms, and allow time for the partner to process the transfer before the cutoff.
