Lampung Marriott Resort & Spa Review: Sea Views, Service and Bonvoy Value

The view from my room explains much of Lampung Marriott's appeal: blue water ahead, coconut palms below and small islands in the distance. The bathtub had a view of the same coastline. For a holiday built around spending time at a resort, a room like this gives you a reason to enjoy the hotel itself.

I have spent six days and five nights here using Marriott Bonvoy points. The room upgrade, clean housekeeping, Indonesian food at Way Manom and the staff's help arranging activities are what I remember most. There is a beach, swimming, snorkeling and island-hopping, but the stay does not need a packed itinerary to feel worthwhile.

Lampung is now easier to reach from Malaysia with TransNusa's direct Kuala Lumpur–Lampung flight (KUL–TKG). My own itinerary went through Jakarta; travellers can now fly straight from KL and continue to the resort by road. This makes a holiday of several nights more straightforward to plan. ^[15]

Lampung is a province at the southern tip of Sumatra, with Bandar Lampung as its capital. A holiday described as being in Lampung can therefore cover a much wider area than the city alone. Lampung Marriott is on the coast at Desa Hurun in Pesawaran. For this holiday, my focus was the resort and the surrounding coast and islands. ^{[11] [12] [1]}

Pahawang is one of coastal Lampung's established snorkeling destinations, known for its waters and coral reefs. The province also has a food identity worth exploring: robusta coffee, banana chips and seruit, a fish dish served with sambal and fermented durian. If you want time outside the resort, these give you a few specific local foods and products to look for. ^[11]

What I liked most was how distinctly local Lampung still felt. During my visit, the places I spent time in felt peaceful and uncrowded. The prices I encountered seemed reasonable, and I did not feel people were taking advantage of me with inflated tourist prices. That ease of dealing with local people was part of what made the trip memorable.

The atmosphere suited the holiday I wanted: a longer resort stay, a day out on the water and time to relax afterwards. I did not need a long list of attractions to make the trip worthwhile. Spending time by the coast was a large part of the appeal in itself.

For your own budget, get a complete quote for transfers and excursions, including what the price covers. My experience of fair pricing is still something to assess against your dates, group size and the services you choose.

International hospitality is expanding here. Lampung Marriott held its official opening ceremony on 1 June 2024. Another name to watch is Banyan Tree Escape Balak, which Banyan Group lists as an upcoming property in Lampung, Indonesia. ^{[13] [14]}

As checked on 29 September 2026, that official listing did not give an opening date. It is a development to follow while awaiting fuller information on reservations, pricing and facilities. The upcoming-hotels page also does not establish the current stage of construction. ^[14]

For me, the combination of international resort accommodation and a strong local atmosphere makes Lampung interesting to consider now. On a quiet coastal holiday, the experience beyond the hotel matters as much as an attractive room and a good points redemption.

The resort is on Jalan Pantai Mutun in Desa Hurun, Pesawaran, Lampung. The relevant airport is Radin Inten II, airport code TKG. Marriott lists it as approximately 40 km from the property. That road journey matters when choosing arrival times, particularly if you are travelling with children or landing late. ^[1]

TransNusa launched direct Kuala Lumpur–Lampung flights on 24 August 2026, with daily service according to the airline's announcement. From KL, you can arrive at Radin Inten II without a domestic connection in Jakarta. For a new booking, this is the first option I would compare for journey time and total price. ^[15]

I have also seen fares around RM300 one way. That gives you an initial budgeting reference; the price for your dates depends on availability and the fare you select. Check the final total, baggage allowance and change conditions before paying. The service launched with a C909 aircraft fitted with 95 Economy seats, using KLIA Terminal 1. ^[16]

From Penang, compare PEN–KUL followed by TransNusa KUL–TKG as well. Include the domestic fare and connecting time in the comparison. On separate tickets, check baggage collection, another check-in and your arrival terminal at KUL before deciding how much connection time to allow.

For this trip, I flew Malaysia Airlines (MH), PEN–KUL–CGK in Business Class on the outbound journey. I returned with Singapore Airlines (SQ), CGK–SIN–PEN, also in Business Class. I used different airlines and transit airports in each direction.

The connection to Lampung was through Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, CGK. For Jakarta–Lampung (TKG), I took Garuda Indonesia in Economy, a flight of around 50 minutes in my experience. Garuda still listed CGK–TKG on its official booking website when checked. ^[5]

TransNusa confirms its direct KUL–TKG route. Malaysia Airlines lists Kuala Lumpur–Jakarta, while Singapore Airlines offers Penang–Jakarta itineraries via Singapore. These are routes to check for your dates, rather than a promise that every flight combination is sold as a single protected itinerary. ^{[15] [6] [7]}

If Jakarta and Lampung are on separate tickets, I would use at least four hours as an initial planning buffer, adding time if terminal changes, baggage handling or another check-in are involved. That is my planning recommendation, not an airline-guaranteed minimum connection time. If the connection still looks fragile, an overnight stop in Jakarta is worth comparing with the cost of a missed domestic flight.

My itinerary combined Business Class between Penang and Jakarta with Economy for the domestic connection to Lampung. When comparing tickets, check each sector's cabin, total travel time and arrival time at the resort. Compare a return fare on one airline with two one-way tickets as well, as in my combination of MH outbound and SQ returning.

For airport pickup, contact Ichlas on +62 812-6372-9393 via WhatsApp. Specify TKG airport and Lampung Marriott Resort & Spa, and provide the flight number, passenger count and luggage requirements. Ask for an arrival-only or return-transfer quote according to your plans.

On 29 September 2026, Marriott's website listed the resort's airport shuttle at IDR700,000 one way or IDR1,400,000 return. It did not state vehicle capacity or clearly identify whether those prices were per vehicle or per passenger. Request a written quote for your party and luggage requirements from the resort on +62 721 8600888. ^[1]

Those shuttle prices are Marriott's published rates. For a pickup with Ichlas, use the quote he supplies for your travel date and group size.

Also confirm the meeting point, tolls, parking, waiting time, arrangements for flight delays and the return pickup time. Compare vehicle types and inclusions so a lower quote genuinely meets your needs.

For a stay spent mostly at the resort, return airport transport and an excursion may cover what you need. If you intend to visit Bandar Lampung, arrange a return trip with an agreed pickup time. I would confirm the road transfer before committing to an early departure flight.

I received an upgrade to a Premium Deluxe King on an upper floor. The room felt spacious, with an ocean-facing balcony and a bathtub overlooking the coast. Much of the resort's appeal was available without leaving the room.

The bedroom photographs show warm wood tones, white linen and soft lighting. The balcony opens onto the coastline and islands beyond. For me, this room category makes particular sense when the room is part of the holiday: time to relax indoors, step onto the balcony and enjoy the setting. Its advantages matter less if you intend to leave early and return late every day.

The bathtub beside the large window is one of the room's most distinctive features. You can see its position in the photograph: a separate tub, full-height glazing and the water beyond the palms. If an ocean-view bathtub is important to your booking, check the photographs and description of the specific room category you are buying. A resort's headline image does not establish what every category includes.

Housekeeping was also very good during my stay. That becomes more noticeable over several nights: after spending time at the beach or on an activity, I wanted to return to a clean, comfortable room. The experience held up beyond the initial impression on arrival.

The hotel's accommodation range includes Deluxe, Premium, Family and Duplex rooms, as well as suites and villas. Families should compare layout and occupancy limits alongside category names. Confirm bed arrangements, extra-bed availability and children's breakfast charges before committing. ^[2]

Mr. Tresna was particularly helpful during my stay. He helped arrange a private island-hopping outing from the resort's pier and secured a Quan Spa appointment during a busy weekend. There were smaller gestures too, including a reminder about breakfast. Those experiences made the service feel personal beyond the check-in process.

This has practical value on a resort holiday. A guest may not know which boat operator to use, how to organise an outing or whether there are still spa appointments available. Staff who help coordinate these details can reduce the time spent planning while you are supposed to be on holiday.

If island-hopping or a spa treatment is central to your holiday, contact the resort before arrival. I appreciated the help during a busy weekend; booking ahead gives you more choice of times and makes it easier to organise your days at the resort.

Way Manom, the Indonesian restaurant by the beach, was one of the reasons I was happy to eat at the resort. I enjoyed its Indonesian food and found the prices reasonable for a resort restaurant. Room service was also quick when I used it.

Sharing dishes works well for a group dinner, giving everyone a chance to try several choices. The photographs below show our food and the outdoor dinner setting. For me, an evening like this fits a resort holiday well: after a day by the water, there is no need to organise another journey just to have dinner.

My photographs also include fried rice with an egg served in the room. Room service is useful on a day when you want to rest or spend more time enjoying the room. Compare its menu and charges with eating in a restaurant, particularly when ordering for several people.

The hotel lists three main dining outlets, each with a different role in a stay: ^[3]

Request the current menus before travelling and check whether prices include tax and service charge. Then count how many lunches and dinners you expect to eat at the resort. An award stay can remove much of the room bill, but several days of dining, drinks and activities still belong in the holiday budget.

For Platinum, Titanium and Ambassador members, the welcome-gift rules at Marriott Hotels-branded resorts in Asia include a restaurant-breakfast option for the member and one guest staying in the same room, as an alternative to the applicable points or amenity options. If you need breakfast each morning, make your choice clear at check-in. ^[8]

Families and multi-room bookings need a separate check. One guest's elite status should not be treated as breakfast for the entire party. Confirm the number of included guests, children's ages and any supplements. This also prevents an unfair comparison between a cash package and a points reservation with different meal inclusions.

I found the beach beautiful, the water clear and the house reef well maintained during my stay. There is, however, a walk between the rooms and the beach area. If travelling with older relatives, a stroller or someone who finds longer walks difficult, discuss room location and available transport assistance before booking.

The pool provides an alternative to organising an excursion. With its deck, loungers and the sea beyond, this is somewhere to leave a few hours free. I would alternate an outing with a slower pool day so the holiday does not become a succession of appointments.

During my stay, there was baby-shark feeding at around 7.30am, a turtle nursery and an aviary. My photographs also include a deer in the resort's green surroundings. For families, short activities like these can fit between breakfast and the pool without committing everyone to a full day away. Reconfirm the current times and access arrangements with the recreation team on arrival.

Follow staff and keeper instructions around the animals, including what food is permitted. Before snorkeling, ask which areas are appropriate that day and check water conditions. The clear water I experienced describes that visit, not a promise of visibility in every season.

Private island-hopping was one of the activities Mr. Tresna helped organise. Leaving from the resort's pier makes it possible to coordinate the outing from where you are staying. The hotel currently lists excursions to places including Kelagian and Pahawang, but the route for your booking should be agreed in advance. ^[4]

For day trips and excursions, contact Afta on +62 856-5885-6061 via WhatsApp. Provide your dates, group size, accommodation and preferred activities. Have the pickup point and departure jetty confirmed in the quote, including whether transport from the resort is included.

Ask for a quote specifying duration, island or snorkeling stops, boat capacity, life jackets, snorkeling equipment, food, entrance fees and weather-related cancellation arrangements. Read a private-boat quote against its capacity and inclusions, and clarify whether the amount is per boat or per person. Those details matter particularly for larger groups or families with children.

The underwater photographs show another part of the trip: fish, anemones and snorkeling stops. If snorkeling is your priority, discuss how much time the itinerary allows in the water compared with beach stops. An outing with many stops may leave less time at each one, so agree on a pace that suits your group.

I had a one-hour massage at Quan Spa and enjoyed it enough to wish I had booked a longer session. The help securing an appointment during a busy period was another part of the service I appreciated.

If the spa is one of your reasons for choosing the resort, reserve a time before arrival. Request the treatment menu and full price, then confirm whether sauna or steam access is included with the treatment or your room category. Staying at the resort should not be taken to mean that every spa facility or service is complimentary.

I have obtained a rate of around 12,000 Bonvoy points per night here while using Stay for 5, Pay for 4. For newcomers to Bonvoy, this reduces the points required for an eligible award reservation: five consecutive nights under one reservation using Standard Redemption or PointSavers. The lowest-priced points night is deducted, rather than necessarily the fifth night in calendar order. ^[9]

Worked example: if all five nights cost 12,000 points each, the original total of 60,000 becomes 48,000 points for five nights, averaging 9,600 per night. This illustrates a booking with an identical nightly rate; the actual total depends on each night in your reservation.

Do not simply multiply the first night's rate by four, because points prices can differ from night to night. Check the total displayed for the complete reservation. Free Night Award certificates and Cash + Points are excluded from this benefit. ^[9]

Search the complete five-night stay in one reservation, then compare it with a cash rate for equivalent accommodation, occupancy and cancellation terms. Comparing a standard-room award with the cash price of a villa will exaggerate the apparent value.

For a points-value illustration, suppose an equivalent cash stay totals RM2,500 and the award requires 48,000 points with no additional room payment. RM2,500 divided by 48,000 is approximately 5.2 Malaysian sen per point. RM2,500 is an example, not a hotel quote. If the award has additional charges, subtract those from the comparable cash total before calculating the value.

This comparison helps with the booking decision, but I would still ask two questions: do I want this particular holiday, and do flights, food and transport fit the budget? Points are most useful when they help pay for a trip you want to enjoy.

The Premium Deluxe King upgrade describes what I received. For your reservation, an enhanced upgrade depends on availability and programme eligibility. If a specific room feature is essential, compare the price and availability of that category directly instead of basing the trip on an expected upgrade. ^[10]

Late checkout also needs care. At resorts, checkout as late as 4pm for Platinum members and above is subject to availability. Confirm what the front desk can offer before planning the departure day around continued room access. If necessary, ask about luggage storage and facilities available after checkout. ^[10]

My five-night experience allowed time for the room, pool, beach, dining, spa and an excursion without trying to compress everything into two days. That length can work well when the resort is the destination. Someone who prefers a different outing every day may want a different balance.

My suggested five-night outline would leave arrival day for travel and check-in, one day for the beach and pool, one for island-hopping, one for spa time and rest, and another flexible day. Keep room for weather, energy levels and activities you want to repeat. Departure day should follow the pickup timing agreed with your driver.

Do not add a night solely to obtain a points discount if it creates leave, flight or spending costs that do not work for you. Compare the actual four- and five-night award totals on your dates, then consider the cost of the entire stay.

I would consider Lampung Marriott for couples who want time at a resort, families interested in beach time and shorter activities, and Bonvoy members who find a favourable award rate. The room view, service I received and Indonesian dining gave me reasons to enjoy the property itself.

The considerations are the flight connections and road transfer, dining and activity costs outside the redemption, and the walk between the room area and the beach. If your main priorities are spontaneous café visits, shopping and frequent independent outings, this resort-centred itinerary may be less suitable.

For me, Lampung Marriott is worth considering when three things line up: you want to spend time here, the journey makes sense, and the cash or points rate is attractive for your dates. The upgrade and staff attention enhanced my experience. The setting and the opportunity to enjoy an unhurried holiday were the reasons to be there.
